 Donations for Orphans

The facility in Pune, India is in need of infant clothing and bedding and if any family who is adopting from Pune is interested in gathering such items to carry with them when they travel, it would be greatly appreciated. And if any traveling family (for any country) feels they will have room to carry items that other families might like to send, please let me know and I will be happy to share your contact information with them.

There is also a need for toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, hair clips, small toys, underwear, flip flops and the many other things it takes to care for so many little ones in the various India facilities and in Ethiopia's orphanages. Ethiopia also asks that families donate ziplock bags of various sizes, flashlights or candles and "specimen cups".

Nepal is in need of flashlights and batteries as they rely on generators for electricity to run the orphanage and the computers and that is very expensive. So, much of the time they do not have the donated generator turned on, to save on expenses. As far as flashlights go, I asked our COO for suggestions, since he is in our TX office and has had to run that office without electricity during the hurricanes they have experienced there. His response was: "
one with an LED "bulb," not a regular incandescent bulb. LEDs are much more energy efficient and batteries are smaller, cheaper and last much longer. One type of LED that may really be of benefit is the kind that is like a hockey puck with about 1 - 5 LEDs in it. They can case a wide pattern of light for stairs, hallways, beside beds for reading, etc. Another type is an LED work light stick, rechargeable. "Other items requested for the orphange in Nepal are: shoes, stationery, blankets, bed sheets, soaps, shampoo, refrigerator, washing machine, computer, all other stuff that is required for children."

Russia is in need of warm clothes, shoes and coats.  If anyone is interested in gathering donations through their work, school, church, etc, I can connect you with a family who will be traveling and who will have room to carry them, or you can send them directly to me here in MO and I will be happy to divide them up into smaller packages and pass items on to families when they travel. Thank you so much.
